This poor little Goldfinch was hit by pesticide. He was rescued by some caring employees at TAC air at Brainard Int. Airport after he fell out of the bushes that were hit with pesticides. He wasn't doing too well when I left, you can see a bit of foam around his beak. I didn't consider him to be a pest...

This is an image of the Wild Horse Refuge on the nortern North Carolina side of the Outer Banks. The view is to the northeast, looking over the border, the fence, into Virginia. There were horse tracks and signs everywhere, but no horses.

Most of the time it is a good idea to get something close in a landscape picture for a frame of reference and for good composisiton. If the photo was taken just of the horizon, without anything in the foreground you can lose all sense of depth. This usually requires you to get on your knees and move the camera around a bit to get it composed correctly before taking the shot. Also if you are using a viewfinder (as opposed to the digital LCD view) and the camera is not a SLR, so that what you see through the viewfinder is a different perspective than what the lens is seeing, you may have a hard time composing your shot unless you know your camera well.

Driving on the coast... literally. 40 Degree difference between Connecticut and North Carolina. Going home was hard.

What really makes this photo is how the water line is followed in the mirror.

This is what you can expect at the Outer Banks in North Carolina. Four Wheel drive vehicles all over the beach. Watch for wild horses grazing on the dunes or the pelicans skimming the waves!

Shoot vehicles from a corner, rather than straight on or dircetly from the side. Also make sure that there are no objects behind or in front of the vehicle that break or ruin the lines.
